Saint Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Church
The First Parish of the Polish National Catholic Church

ANS Society

The ANS Society of St. Stanislaus Cathedral is Branch #1, the first branch organized by Bishop Franciszek Hodur.  In order to elevate the importance of women in the ministry of the church, he organized a society consisted of only women.  Also known as the Ladies Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament Society, the ladies have the front pews reserved for their worship at Holy Mass or any other service in church in which the Blessed Sacrament is adored.  Whenever the Holy Eucharist is exposed, they hold a candle to commemmorate the importance of the Body of Christ in our midst.  While also functioning as caretakers of the sanctuary and altar, they help in many of the important facets of the parish, and they remain one of the unique organizations of the Polish National Catholic Church.

Bishop Anthony Mikovsky, Pastor of St. Stanislaus Cathedral, serves as the Spiritual Advisor to the Society.  For more information on this Society of Devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ, please feel free to contact the Rectory or simply attend services and witness the commitment to our Savior.

Adopt A Sister

Our April meeting will be a very special gathering—our Adopt-a-Sister brunch meeting.  This event will be held in the parish hall following High Mass on Sunday, April 19, 2009 (at approximately 12:30 PM).  We invite all of our current member Sisters to attend our first covered dish brunch and bring with them not only a light and delicious brunch menu item to share, but also a new and untapped jewel — a potential new ANS Sister!  If only half of our members could attend our meeting (that is, 38 out of 76 members), and if only half of those attending members each brought one woman as a potential member, we could have a gathering of 57 women at our next meeting, instead of the usual dozen or less, and wouldn’t that be wonderful?

During our Adopt-a-Sister meeting we will discuss not only our usual business matters, we will also introduce our potential new Sisters to what we have in store for the upcoming year and be provided with a special presentation by Josephine A. Kwiatkowski.  She will speak to the group about the Daily Life of Mary.  It is a truly inspiring and informative lecture, and one which every woman in our Society should view firsthand.  (We published the written text of the presentation in the Summer 2008 edition of Polka .)

We hope that all of our members who are physically able will attend our Adopt-a-Sister brunch meeting, each bring with them a potential new member, and help us to make 2009 a very prosperous year, and we wish that all of our sister societies throughout the Church have a successful 2009!
